World’s Largest Solar Power Plant (648MW) in India

With a generating capacity of 648 MW at a single location, The exciting thing is, this solar power plant consists of 25 lakh solar modules and 27,000 metres of structures. And also consist of 576 inverters and 154 transformers and almost 7500 km of cables.

This solar power plant is constructed at Kamuthi, 90 km from Madurai, in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. This project has been commissioned by Adani Power and it is worth ₹ 4,550 crore.  It is the world’s largest single location solar project. The project was completed on 21 September 2016.

Kamuthi solar resource is able to produce around 5.5 kWh/m2,day  and an annual generation of 1.3 TWh/yr may be possible.
